Pinterest Picks - 1/22/2014

Happy Wednesday! 

I found this and it really fits quite perfectly with the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle I'm following now.

I'm not deprived. I'm eating quality, whole foods, the right fats, veggies, fruits and lean proteins. 

I even eat homemade desserts and am able to enjoy pasta and pizza.  And, it's very true - I'm eating a bit more than I otherwise would and I'm losing weight.  Not by eating less, but by eating more of the right foods.

Pinterest Picks - 1/17/2014

I'm finding this to be very true in all aspects of life - kids, activities, exercise and especially food. 


My New Year's resolution (most years) has always related to weight loss or health. However, this year I want to be more organized. And that includes meal planning and preparation in addition to keeping our life, home and my car organized :) Oh, and to yell less at my kiddos.

Update & Pinterest Picks - 9/10/2012

I have not posted in quite some time. I have been somewhat busy with life and have gotten away from my blogging. However, I have been somewhat good about diet - but not exercise. It is actually what I've pinpointed as being the real pitfall of my efforts.
It turns out I've just been - well - lazy. Terribly, terribly lazy.
So, today after I dropped the kiddos at school, I leashed up our dog and we went for a 23 minute run with a few minutes of walking.
I have to say I'm impressed and proud of myself ;)
Now, if I can just keep it up!

Pinterest Picks - 6/25/2012

Well hello!
I have been quite the exerciser this week and feeling pretty sore and proud! I've surprisingly skipped the gym and been doing some at home DVDs and even brought it back to the 90s doing some Tae Bo!

Still doing Cinch but adding in more meals and using the snack bars, meal bars and shakes. They are so yummy!

I haven't lost much weight but I definitely feel smaller and looks like my stomach is flatter. I will post an update soon with new measurements and stats!

Saw this on Pinterest and I'm really finding that this is true - I don't think I was exercising enough to lose weight. I'm feeling great and actually have been looking forward to doing it!

Pinterest Picks - 4/26/2012

Good morning!

As an update to my post from yesterday.  I did indeed have a cupcake and it was completely delicious.

Speaking of cupcakes - I do believe you have to treat yourself occasionally.  Aside from last night's cupcake, I've stopped rewarding myself with food related "treats" (I'm not a dog, remember?) and started shifting what I treat myself with.  I'd prefer a mani/pedi, a massage or a new piece of clothing or shoes!

For today's Pinterest Pick, I found this.  Again - simply stated.

I always thought I ate healthy and right. Starting to really believe this.

Ate out last night and feeling a bit guilty for having some French fries with my garden burger - so I'm being strict today to keep on target with my ultimate goal.

Hello!

Every once in awhile I come across something, read something or see something that makes me think or feel differently about my actions completely.

This is now one of them:


Since I've been watching what I eat more (no, not as it goes into my mouth!) and as I closely read food labels, this really spoke to me when I found it on Pinterest.

Instead of turning to food for comfort, I am trying to view it more as fueling my body and keeping me healthy.

While this quote is strong, it really gets me thinking about what I choose to put in my body.

Pinterest Picks - 2/24/12

Happy Friday!

In lieu of me FINALLY losing 5 pounds (can I get a wooohooo?!?), I wanted to address the importance of non-scale victories.  I was getting quite frustrated with the lack of weight loss despite my efforts to eat well, exercise and do all the "right" things to get that scale to budge!

All kidding aside, these non-scale indicators are indeed huge successes and often are what are seen and felt long before the weight loss shows up on the scale.

So, without further adieu, here's this week's Pinterest Picks:


Once they are all listed out like that, seems like it's kinda worth celebrating a little, huh?  

Before I even saw the 5 pound weight loss, my pants were incredibly looser as were my wedding rings.  I totally had more energy and I feel great!  

So, someone tell me why, oh why, do we put so much darn emphasis on weight as opposed to health?  Muscle weighs more than fat anyways - we all know that!  

I say step away from the scale for a week or two and focus on these non-scale indicators and let me know how it goes!

Happy Friday!

In lieu of the Super Bowl this weekend, I figured I'd make some snack type munchies for the weekend and treat ourselves a bit.

But I'm trying to keep it on the healthy side - veggies and dip, healthier bean/chili dip with whole grain chips, etc.  Going to stay away from the heavy, fried goodies I soooo love - so I digress.

But, if you haven't seen some of the statistics for what the average person consumes in calories at a typical Super Bowl party - it's scary! It can range in the 4,000's!!!

Pinterest Picks

I love Pinterest for many things - finding home decor ideas, recipes, DIY projects, crafts and so much more.  Really. It's quite addicting and a huge time-suck if I'm not careful :)  Luckily, I have two attention-hungry kids to snap me back to reality any moment I take a mere five minutes for myself.

Know the feeling?

Anyways, back to the point.

I love Pinterest lately for the motivation I'm finding through others. People are pinning images of health, recipes and inspiring workouts that is a daily reminder to me of why I've chosen to make this lifestyle change.

To finally say "buh-bye" to this toddler weight is going to take time, but it's a long-term change for the better.  Motivation and keeping the goal in mind is key, so if you're here with me I plan on sharing some of the best "pins" I find with you.
